Step-by-Step Guide
Detailed Rituals Explanation

Umrah Following the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), pilgrims perform rituals that commemorate significant events in Islamic history and demonstrate their devotion to Allah.
Umrah is the fifth pillar of Islam, representing unity, equality, and submission to Allah. This sacred journey to Mecca is required once in a lifetime for those who are physically and financially able.
Detailed Rituals Explanation
Before entering the state of Ihram, make the sincere intention (niyyah) that you are performing Umrah for the sake of Allah.
Ihram is the special state of purity you must enter before starting Umrah.
Wear the prescribed clothing: two white unstitched garments for men, and modest clothing for women (typically simple, non-attractive attire).
Make the intention for Umrah while entering the Miqat (the designated point outside Mecca where you must enter Ihram).
Recite the Talbiyah: "LabbaykAllahummaUmrah" (Here I am, O Allah, for Umrah).
Once you arrive at the Masjid al-Haram (the Grand Mosque), the first thing you should do is approach the Kaaba.
Perform Tawaf al-Qudum (the welcoming Tawaf) as a greeting upon arrival
Tawaf involves walking around the Kaaba seven times in a counter clock wise direction, starting from the Black Stone (al-Hajar al-Aswad).
You must keep the Kaaba on your left side as you complete each circle. During Tawaf, it’s encouraged to make supplications and prayers.
After completing Tawaf, offer two Rak'ahs of prayer near the Maqam Ibrahim (the Station of Ibrahim), if possible. This is where Prophet Ibrahim is believed to have stood while building the Kaaba.
After praying at Maqam Ibrahim, it’s a Sunnah (recommended practice) to drink from the sacred Zamzam well water, located within the Masjid al-Haram.
Walk between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times (starting at Safa).
After completing the seven rounds, you will have finished the Sa'i ritual. This is one of the key rites of Umrah.
Men: After completing Sa'i, it is a Sunnah for men to either shave their heads or trim a small portion of their hair. Shaving is preferred as it symbolizes purity.
Women: Women are to trim a small portion of their hair, usually about the length of a fingertip.
After shaving or trimming the hair, you can now exit the state of Ihram and resume normal activities, but the sacredness of Ihram remains until you complete the pilgrimage.
